Dan Mahurin is the President and Chief Operating Officer at Bovard Insurance Group, who is owned by Sunstar Insurance Group. He joined Bovard as executive vice president of Sales in 2014, after a decorated career with Federated Insurance in the capacity of District Marketing Manager. Dan hit the ground running and has earned the top insurance Sales award for Sunstar for the last 8 consecutive years. Following his success as a Producer and Vice President of sales, in 2022, Dan became President and CEO at Bovard and assumed responsibility for the agency’s sales leadership and profitability. He has a passion for helping people and a strong desire to lead, making his new leadership role a perfect fit for the organization.
Prior to working in insurance, Dan received his undergraduate degree through the University of Central Missouri, where he was a member of the basketball team under the direction of Coach Bob Sundvold. Upon graduation, Dan coached and taught in the Missouri public school setting where his teams garnered records of 220-58 over his ten years. He received State coach of the years honors in 2002 and received many district and regional coach of the year awards. Along with his undergrad from UCM, he also holds a Masters degree in Organizational Leadership and led a team of teachers as Assistant principal, Athletic Director and Head Basketball coach in the mid Missouri area.
Dan is a father of 6 children and he and his family reside in the Kansas City Metropolitan area.
